Penn State Engineering Science Major
Welcome to Engineering Science at Penn State. This student-produced video introduces the Engineering Science major. If you are interested in, and excel at, science and math and want to use your skills in these areas to research, develop, and design new products and processes in a wide variety of fields then the engineering science curriculum is an excellent choice for you. Due to the breadth of the curriculum, graduates have many career options, are well-prepared for advanced study, and often become team leaders. The average starting salary for an engineering science graduate is one of the highest in the college of engineering. www.esm.psu.edu U.Ed. #ENG06-53 - This publication is available in alternative media upon request. Pilot Officer Raja Jahanzaib shaheed - January 22, 2008 - Tragic Incident near GIKI
PAF s' News Section paffalcons.com A pilot was killed when his aircraft crashed in Pakistan's North-West Frontier Province, the air force said. The T-37 trainer jet caught fire before hitting the ground on the premises of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, located in the small village of Topi, some 100 kilometres from capital Islamabad. "The pilot died in the crash," said a spokesman for Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Wing Commander Tariq Mehmood. A mechanical malfunction appears to have caused the accident, he added. The Pilot Officer Jahanzaib was martyred and a gardener on the ground is also feared to have expired in the crash, the sources said. This was the first jet lost by the PAF this year. In 2007, six military jets crashed - five due to mechanical failures and one after hitting a bird. The T-37 is a training plane used by about 20 air forces around the world. Pakistan has acquired about 60 of the jets over a number of years, but due to attrition no more than 20 remain in service today.

DEFCON 15: The Science of Social Engineering: NLP, Hypnosis and the science of persuasion
Speakers: Mike Murray Anton Chuvakin Ph.D. Social engineering has traditionally been more of an art than a science, we try different things, and if they work, we continue to use them over and over again. Some of the best social engineers have developed excellent technique even without understanding why what they're doing works. Mike & Anton are skilled communicators trained in NLP, hypnosis, FACS and other sciences of influence, and will present (and demonstrate) some of the cutting edge research on influence and persuasion. Tissue Engineering -- Building Body Parts
Replacing organs or tissues with lab-created counterparts; engineered kidneys, livers and hearts. Science fiction? Not any more -- scientists are already successfully growing all kinds of organs and tissues in the lab.All 50 Secrets of the Sequence videos have an accompanying classroom-tested lesson that encourages students to further explore the video topics. Each lesson includes background information, state and national science standards, discussion questions and answers, teacher notes and an activity that will ensure a hands-on, "minds-on" experience. Music on prescription could help treat emotional and physical pain
New research into how music conveys emotion could benefit the treatment of depression and the management of physical pain. Using an innovative combination of music psychology and leading-edge audio engineering the project is looking in more detail than ever before at how music conveys emotion. The project, at Glasgow Caledonian University is supported by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. TEDxCaltech - David Awschalom - Spintronics: Abandoning Perfection for the Quantum Age
David Awschalom is a professor of physics, electrical, and computer engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara and the Peter J. Clarke Director of the California NanoSystems Institute. He is a pioneer in the field of semiconductor spintronics, exploring the quantum mechanical behavior of charges and spins in nanostructures and the foundations of solid-state quantum information processing. David is a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences. He has received numerous awards, including the Outstanding Investigator Prize and David Turnbull Award (Materials Research Society), the International Magnetism Prize and Néel Medal (International Union of Pure and Applied Physics), the Oliver E. Buckley Prize (APS), the Europhysics Prize from the European Physical Society, and the Newcomb Cleveland Prize (AAAS). About TEDx, x = independently organized event: In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx ...
